August 1, 1956-March 19, 2003

Mary Elizabeth Malagisi was born on August 1st, 1956 to Pasquale and Betty Malagisi.  She attended Gloversville schools, then went on to FMCC to study nursing.  After college, Mary married Brian Ellis Veeder on October 20, 1979.  They went on to have four children: Timothy Ellis, Matthew Paul, Elizabeth Grace and Angela Lee. 

After the birth of Elizabeth, Mary began working at Kingsborough Elementary School as a library aide.  She very quickly became popular among the students and her co-workers, and was well liked by everyone.  In the words of the principal of Kingsborough: "Mary was a dedicated, hard worker, with a passion for her work and a love for the children she helped."

Mary's true passion, however, was for her family.  She dedicated her life to her husband and children, and would stop at nothing to make sure they were happy and healthy.  She made every attempt to attend her children's plays or concerts, graduations, and she very rarely missed an event one of her children was part of. 

On March 19th, 2003, Mary passed away unexpectedly.  Her passing was taken with great remorse by the entire community of Gloversville, which she lived her entire life.  The funeral home that her wake was held at noted that they had never had as many people come to a wake in their 15 years in business.

Her absence has left a gap in the hearts of her husband, children, mother, brothers, sisters, cousins, and friends. 

Mom, we all love you, miss you, and hope for the day that we can see you again. 

In May of 2003, The Mary E. Veeder Memorial Scholarship was set up to help one student a year graduating from Gloversville High School who is planning on continuing his/her education at a 2 or 4 year school in the pursuit of education, music, or medical arts.  To make a donation to the scholarship, you can make a check or money order out to Gloversville Enlarged School District (make sure to write "Mary E.
